Yale University

New Haven, Connecticut

This world class Ivy of 5,300 undergrads admitted only 9.5% of its applicants for the fall of 2005. Since dropping early decision in favor of single-choice early action, the number of applicants increased (while those at "rival" Harvard decreased). Since all applicants are high achieving, you better have a great essay. Yale academics are strong across the board. The residential colleges (see my article on this type of living arrangement) create a sense of community for students.
